The Certificate
of Proficiency in English [CPE] is recognised throughout the world by universities,
professional bodies and in commerce and industry as a very high level of English.
Students who reach this level are approaching the linguistic competence of
an educated native speaker. A CPE student's level of English gives him/her
access to the press and other media, and to areas of culture such as film,
drama and literature. CPE - like CAE - is recognised by most British universities
for entrance level language requirements.
The CPE exam comprises 5 parts:
Paper 1 - Reading
Paper 2 - Writing
Paper 3 - Use of English [Grammar]
Paper 4 - Listening
Paper 5 - Speaking
ACE students
who would like to take the 12-week CPE course need to be at Advanced or
Advanced+ level [ACE General English levels 602 - 603] and will need to
take the ACE CPE Qualifying test before being accepted for the CPE course.
Note: ACE guarantees a CPE course in Sydney, Brisbane and Perth.
ACE CPE students are never in a mixed class with CAE students.
