Some ACE students need to work while they are studying in Australia. Working for an Australian company, restaurant or pub can be a fantastic cultural experience. It can also be an excellent way to improve your English, as long as it does not interfere with your study routine. Students are legally allowed to work in Australia if they have one of the following visas:

A Working Holiday Visa

The Working Holiday Visa is a 12-month visa which allows overseas visitors to Australia to do casual work while they are travelling around Australia. You can study for a maximum of 12 weeks on a Working Holiday Maker visa. Applicants for this type of visa must be between 18-30 years old.

A Student Visa

Australia is one of the only countries in the world which allows Student Visa holders to work - for a maximum of 20 hours per week - while they are studying. If you hold a Student Visa and wish to work in Australia, you must apply for work authorisation when you arrive in Australia.
